Creating Better Choices
with Krista Friesen

Summerhill Impact (formerly Clean Air Foundation) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2000 to respond to the need for well-conceived public engagement programs that achieve measurable emission reductions. Since its inception, the organization has addressed this need by developing, implementing and managing successful public engagement programs across Canada. Each initiative is supported by an impressive cross-section of utilities, manufacturers, retailers, government and non-government partners and in a very short period of time, Summerhill Impact has established itself as an organization that brings partners together to achieve significant results.
Our strategic approach involves:
- Identifying environmental issues and developing program models around consumer products and services
- Building strategic partnerships with public, private and not-for-profit organizations with a vested interest in the issue
- Developing a market-based approach and incentives that will lead to maximal success and significant environmental improvements
- Engaging the public to make better choices through information and empowerment
- Generating measurable results that improve air quality and protect the climate

Krista Friesen - Krista Friesen is a Program Director at Summerhill Impact (formerly Clean Air Foundation) where she is responsible for overseeing two mercury collection programs — Switch Out, a national program designed to remove and collect mercury switches from end-of-life vehicles, and Switch the ‘Stat, a thermometer exchange program — as well as developing new programs related to product stewardship.
